I've been thinking a bit recently about casualty removal, and how to place your models to greatest effect at what time within a game, which resulted in me having a thought i initially discarded as being daft, but which kept niggling at me as being worthy of consideration.
The basic principle behind my thinking is this: 'Does my heavy weapon specialist ever become a disposable asset?'

I played my first game in over a month last night, and boy does it show how rusty you can get very quickly, following as it did my first and second wins in the last week before the break. As such, I thought I'd reflect a little on the challenge that I faced and what I think i did (very) wrong.

We all love specialists, from the meltagun wielding space marine to the imperial guardsman with a flamer, or the dark eldar warrior with a blaster, specialists are a common sight in our hobby. I've got a few thoughts on the perils of concentrating too much on these weapons when formulating tactics before or during games, and the idea of synergy in their use.
