Hero for a Day tickets will be on sale this month!

Greetings all,
I know I've not posted up about this in quite a while, I've been struggling to get confirmation of the hall hire cost from our hosts for the day, who've never hosted a charity event previously and have been trying to arrange a pricing structure.

I'm glad to say however that this is all now resolved, and I'm even happier to be able to tell you that not only have Asfordby Parish Council agreed to halve the hire cost due to it being an overnight event, but the remainder of the hire cost is to be paid by a single member from my gaming club.

That means that there is no contribution to hire cost in the ticket price.

Even better, another member of club and my own fantastic wife have offered to cater for the evening meal, meaning attendees will have a choice of chilli or lasagne in the evening, again at no cost in terms of ticket price.

As lunch is to be a free hour for participants to do as they wish (there's a great fish and chip shop in town) that means that the only burden on ticket prices is breakfast, and I've got an arrangement in place with a nearby sandwich shop to provide us with hot breakfast rolls on the day.

What that means, is that for the bargain price of £10 per ticket, you'll get 8 games of 40k/kill team in 24 hours, with 2 meals included! Tea and Coffee will be provided for you to help yourselves throughout the day, and there will also be a variety of snacks and other drinks included, based on how far the kitty stretches.

So far then the programme for the day looks a little like this:

Friday 19th August 11pm - registration opens - this gives us an hour to get everyone ready, registered and assigned to their tables. I appreciate this is a little longer than would normally be the case, however given the team nature of the event I think it's necessary to allow the captains to meet their teams in person if they don't already know everyone and get organised.

Friday 19th August Midnight - Game 1
This is a 1v1 game, set at 1850pts

Saturday 20th August 03:00 - Game 2
Kill Team - 200pts with specific restrictions

Saturday 20th August 04:30 - Game 3
Doubles - 800pts per player

Saturday 20th August 08:00 - 09:00

Saturday 20th August 09:00 - Noon
Handicap - 1250pts vs 1750pts

Saturday 20th August Noon - 13:00
Kill Team - 200pts with specific restrictions

Saturday 20th August 13:00 - 14:00

Saturday 20th August 14:00 - 17:00
Doubles - 800pts per player

Saturday 20th August 17:00 - 20:00
Handicap - 1250pts vs 1750pts

Saturday 20th August 20:00 - 21:00

Saturday 20th August 21:00 - Midnight
Singles 1850pts

After that, I'll announce the winning team, and hopefully have some idea of the total raised (you can donate here if you can't make it to the event or simply want to give right now).

I'm still working on mission details, but I'm hoping to have all the missions done this month to give everyone plenty of opportunity to practice if they wish before the day.

Importantly, in terms of army selection, armies must be taken from a single faction (so no allied knights etc) and forgeworld units will be limited to one per player (and no forgeworld superheavies).

As ever, there is a forum for those interested in attending, please head over to http://heroforaday.proboards.com/  and register. You'll then be able to discuss army lists and strategy with other members of the teams (once I know if you'll be attacking or defending).

Till next time,
