Greetings all, just a quick hobby update for you today! Not a huge deal of progress (at least visible progress worth showing off) this week, blame the fact that I got an extra game night in instead to practice with my list for 'Never mind the BlogWars' in November.
One thing I did manage to make progress with (last night) was my Tau colour scheme. As many of you know, I used to have a fairly large Tau collection, wasn't happy with the quality of the finish, although the colour scheme itself was pretty striking. But I really liked the army, the look etc. Couldn't face repainting already assembled models so I sold it off. Now of course I want to go back to having a Tau army and I'm trying to come up with something that really does justice to the models.
After looking at a couple of options, I decided to go with a largely brown armour, with turquoise energy glowing from between the panels, and orange highlights. Sounds hideous, but hopefully the photo above shows that it works fairly well! Now I need to get on with doing the torso and heavy rail rifle (yes, I know it's still not a great option) before applying it to the squad of crisis suits I've also got stashed away. I also need to come up with a new name because Obsidian Enclave seems wrong for an army painted mostly brown.
In the meantime, and aside from doing some more mundane stuff on a daemons commission, I'm also working on my dreadtober entry, a pair of venerable dreadnoughts for the Dusk Knights. I have to say, I really do like the venerable dreadnought, the extra pip of ballistic skill makes a massive difference, and it was one of the units that won me my game against an Imperial soup list at the weekend (Guard, Custodes and Celestine, with a Vindicare joining the party too).
Till next time, when hopefully I'll have something a little more meaningful to show!
