Blog reset - 8th edition blank slate!

Greetings all, time for a mind wipe I think, let's ctrl-alt-delete my brain!

Don't worry though, I'm not about to ditch the blog and start a new one (hmm, tempting, but quite a lot of effort methinks!).

That being said, with the announcement from GW that we will definitely be seeing 8th edition this year (and hopefully rather sooner than that deadline may imply) I think it's the perfect time to take a quick look at what I'm doing on the blog and decide how I want to evolve it in the future.

40k stuff

This is obviously going to be a huge part of things going forward, whilst not my first love, or second, from GW, it certainly occupies pride of place now, and is likely to do so for the foreseeable future. What I would hope to be able to do however is to begin bringing some more structured codex reviews to the table. Battle reports may well disappear from this blog, but only because I and a couple of my friends are aiming to create our own youtube channel on which we will be featuring some of our games. That will all be linked to the sister blog, http://gdbrotherhood.blogspot.co.uk/ and we're hoping to combine video battle reports with map versions of the games too, so no matter what your preferred method of catching up, we'll have you covered.

As of now, I'm going to be retiring my 'road to competence' and 'playing the mission' series, though have no fear, these will be kicking off again once the new edition drops, and starting again, if not from scratch, at least with an intro post to summarise the elements that remain the same from what I've covered already.

AoS stuff

You'll definitely begin to see more Age of Sigmar on this blog. My club (not me this time) is running a tale of several gamers as we take our first steps into AoS, so expect to see painting projects on here for the Court of Comus (my Chaos Slaves to Darkness force) alongside game reports and other delicious goodies.

30k Stuff

I still have a small collection of 30k  Emperor's Children that I'd like to keep working on, however due to the cost of the models, this project is very much going to take a back seat for a while. Posting will therefore be quite sporadic I'm afraid.

Specialist games stuff

I've not featured too much of the specialist games on the blog for a while, the bloodbowl 3rd age continues at my club, though I'm currently on a bit of a hiatus to allow most of the players to catch up with the number of games I've played. Expect to see the odd game report here and there once I start playing again.

These are going to stay - if you ever come across any 40k related funnies (or make your own) then please do feel free to send them over to me at the blog address theburningeyeblog@gmail.com.

I like the spotlight articles, they're kind of my way of giving a little something back to those other hobbyists out there who help to inspire me. Viewing figures have tailed off a little since I started the series, but I want to start putting a little more detail into some of the articles, picking out some of my favourite posts from those blogs, so hopefully they will pick up again.

Reader's questions?

I'm always on the look out for new ideas to keep the blog fresh - and I'm looking now for your input! Are there any subjects you would like to see me tackle, what would you like to see me look at and write about? I'll consider all suggestions, though I retain the right not to write about some stuff if I feel I'm unqualified to do so!

Till next time,
